Mountain Sports has developed a locally based fund that works with the "1% For The Planet" program to fulfill the environmental responsibility each business is faced with in our world today. The 1% program was originally conceived by the founder of Patagonia, Yvon Chouinard and Craig Matthews, owner of Blue Ribbon Flies.  "1% For The Planet" encourages Mountain Sports and other participating companies around the world to return to the environment what we may get from it and to raise awareness of the impact that business has on our environment. Through the 1% For The Planet program, Mountain Sports donates 1% of the store sales to the locally based Grand Canyon Wildlands Council. The Grand Canyon Wildlands Council combines science with passion, building a better understanding of wild nature and working to keep it all here and thriving. Together with the Grand Canyon Wildlands Council we are working to protect wild nature in the Grand Canyon region.
